As executive director for the French High Committee for Civil Defence, Mr Sommade re-launched the activity of the High Committee 10 years ago making it one of the major think tanks in France working on issues of resilience, emergency and crisis management against catastrophic threats, including terrorism, with a focus on CBRN issues, critical infrastructure protection, public health and societal resilience.
Within the framework of the French High Committee for Civil Defence's activities Mr Sommade has also provided training on crisis management for the French Ministry of the Interior and many private companies, as well as consultancy on different resilience and security matters. He is an expert on the French organisation of resilience, critical infrastructure protection and emergency crisis management, as well as some foreign models such as the USA, UK, and Singapore.
Previously, Mr Sommade spent three years in charge of the development of “security and defence” markets for Cegelec, a solution and services company with a special focus on infrastructure security for airports, ports and other critical infrastructures. Prior to that, Mr Sommade spent 3 years in Washington DC developing and promoting the French NBC defence industry on the US market of Homeland security.
